Fixed braces

Fixed braces are a traditional method which is still widely used to help people of all ages achieve a straighter and healthier smile. Brackets are bonded onto the front surface of your teeth with a wire that runs through them. This wire creates the force to gradually align the teeth.

We also take care of young patients over 6 years of age who need an orthodontic treatment more for skeletal problem, such as a narrow maxilla, small mandible or too big mandible.

  • Usually worn for 12-24 months.
  • Should be checked every 6-8 weeks.
  • Hard and sticky food should be avoided.
  • Made of stainless steel or ceramic.
  • Fixed braces can handle even the most complex cases.

Functional appliances

Functional appliances help children with narrow jaws and underdeveloped lower jaws which cause crowded teeth and bad bites. They help correct the bone problems, while the tooth problems are corrected with the orthodontic braces.

The use of functional appliances can reduce the time the child must wear fixed braces and also can reduce the need for the extraction of permanent teeth. Functional appliances develop the dental arches so that all the permanent teeth can erupt, which ensures an outstanding profile, broad smile and healthy jaw joints.

  • Helps with narrow or underdeveloped jaws, breathing and speech problems.
  • The ideal age for functional appliances is 7-11 years.
  • They can be utilized as early as age 4 if necessary.
  • Used to develop the arch to a more normal shape before applying braces.

Removable appliances are small, custom-fit devices made of plastic or metal. Retainers are most often used after orthodontic therapy to hold teeth in position. Without retainers, that year or two you spent wearing braces could well be for nothing.

  • Usually needs to be worn for several years.
  • Initially, it is required to wear the retainer on a nightly basis.
